One Month In!!!

So I've been attending University for little over a month, and how am I finding it? Really kind of difficult! Forget the moving to a new country, a new place, new culture (kind of). I done two years of college (tech) and I'm technically on my third year of uni, so I haven't had the first two years to find my footing as others would have.

I kind of feel at the moment what did is spend that 8k on, I feel as if I've no support or help and I'm basically just sitting here, i could be doing that at home and not getting into debt. As well as all the new applications with joining a university page such as a portal (basically an excuse to be as digital as possible) we have to find our timetable on our portal, submit our work on our portal, find our work on our portal. And for someone who this is new to, it is a bit overwhelming.

I am hoping and saying to myself that I've only really started and am still getting use to it and hoping that after a while I'll feel more comfortable and confident with it all. But as for now and my current assignment, its not going too good.

Southampton Solent

GREAT NEWS!!!

I got an offer for Southampton Solent. Everything is starting to fall into place (knock on wood)

And as I promised in a previous post l, once all my projects/assignments are done with the course I'm currently doing and I attend Southampton, that's when I will get back into this blog.

I will try and post on this as often as I can, but honestly, I don't know how often that will be yet as I am busy with assignments and coursework etc.

However I can't wait to move away and do something new, exciting and different, and to feel like a student and all that.

Sick as a Dog (Film)

In a previous post I posted an extract of the short comedy/farce I wrote for my comedy unit 'Sick as a Dog'

Now that that's finished and in my YouTube channel, here you go:

I don't think we've got our marks for it yet unfortunately but when I do I'll post it up here.

What I've Been Up To

I know I haven't really posted on this blog in a while but here's a little update…

I've been so busy with all my projects coming up
1) The SpeediCook commercial I have to shoot for my advertising unit.
2)The Michael Frien studio shoot (which we had to do interviews with real professionals in the business and I got the role I applied for - DIRECTORgo me!)
3) My End of Year Film (my last project) that will be show in the cinema
4)My End of Year Film blog that is worth 80% of our final mark (I've been focusing mainly on that blog lately)

I asked if it was possible if we could just use our first blogs but that was a no go and since the othe blog is worth 80% I've been putting all my efforts into that.

I've also finished my comedy/farce short a while back 'Sick as a Dog' that I will post up.

Sick as a Dog

An extract of a short non-dialogue farce script I wrote:
SCENE 4 - INTERIOR - WAITING ROOM

Arthur walks over to a seat and sits down, swinging his legs

at the seat he is sitting in. He sees a woman sitting next

to him with a cat cage beside her.

(CONTINUED)

Arthur starts to make cute faces at the cat cage and starts

wiggling his finger at it until he gets closer and closer

until the cat tries to attack him.

A huge roar is heard from the cage making Arthur jump back

in fear. Arthur barks at the cat cage in retaliation. The

woman sitting beside him looks at him, seeing this he stops

and looks awkwardly away.

Arthur pulls out a PSP and looking very child like and

innocent he starts playing it.

Arthur is handed a medical form to complete, he looks

thankful to the person giving it to him.

Arthur looks down to form and then starts to fill it out. He

looks up as if thinking about something and starts to fill

out form again.

He looks confused over some of the questions he was

answering but continues on.(some of the questions animal

related i,e. breed)

The hand that handed him the medical form takes it from him,

he hands it over with a smile.

Arthur looks around room endearingly. A weird and slightly

psychotic looking doctor in a white lab coat walks out from

his office, a bit untidy looking, and as he does he reaches

into the inside of his lab coat, pulls out a flask and takes

a swig, quickly putting it back inside.

The doctor calls out Arthur’s name.

Arthur hearing this gets up and walks over, accidentally

lifting the woman’s cat cage instead of his own bag, shaking

the doctors hand as he walks in his office. The doctor takes

one more swig from his flask before he follows.

SCENE 5 - INTERIOR - DOCTORS OFFICE

Guy sits down on the table, realizing he has the cat box he

looks a bit confused wondering how he got it; he sets it

down. The doctor walks over to him.

The doctor makes a series of gestures to ask what’s wrong

Arthur makes a sad face while motioning to his throat and

stomach.

The doctor grabs Arthur face while moving it up and down,

side to side examining him.

Comedy Short

So last week me and my production crew finished the shoot for a comedy/farce project we had to do for class.

It was called 'Sick as a Dog' and is about a naive, dumb-wited guy who gets sick and attempts to travel to a doctor surgery but instead ends up at a vets.

We are currently in the post production stages of the film process (editing).

It was a two day shoot and we had two locations to shoot in. One problem we had was the scenes we thought would be difficult to shoot turned out to be the easiest; and vice-versa. Through a little bit of of extra planning though we managed to get around the scenes.

I will upload an extract of the script on the next post.
